Shillong, Aug 1: State BJP President Ernest Mawrie on Monday spoke to Meghalaya Governor to demand for the removal of West Garo Hills DC and SP for harassing the Karyakartas in Tura.

On July 25 last, the General Secretary of the BJP was detained by the SP of West Garo Hills for several hours without proper reason. The peaceful protest was denied by the DC of West Garo Hills and, hence, the State President of the BJP on Monday came forward to seek permission from the Governor, Satya Pal Malik.

“We have already submitted our memorandum and the Governor has promised us to set an independent enquiry and our stance is to remove immediately the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills and the Superintendent of Police that is our stance,” stated Mawrie.

On the question that BJP should wait till the current investigation is finished, Mawrie replied that for a clean investigation to happen, it is important to remove the DC and SP of West Garo Hills. “For a fair investigation, we demand removal of these two persons. We want an independent enquiry,” he said.
