Shillong, April 5: As many as 22 students from rural Meghalaya have secured their place in the Top 20 merit list of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) 2025 examination, results of which were announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on Saturday.
These students are from schools located outside the main urban hubs of Shillong, Tura and Jowai.
Among the toppers is Pori Panday of Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School, Phulbari, who secured the 2nd position.
Sourav Pandey of Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh secured 3rd position. While, namika Singh from Gorkha Secondary School, Upper Shillong took the 4th spot.
Manderson Thongni of Mawpdai Area Secondary School, Mawpdai and Mahir Islam of Mahendraganj Higher Secondary School, Mahendraganj secured 5th position.
Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh, saw another topper with Nandini Kumari securing the 6th position.
Queency Kharsohnoh from Umroi Presbyterian Secondary School, Umroi, stood in 7th place, while Algaro Thardy M Marak from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Dalu and Musa Kazi of Janapriya Higher Secondary School, Bholarbhita were both ranked 8th.

Bhakupar Sun (Seng Khasi Secondary School, Marbisu) and Angel Jollyza Marbaniang (St. Thomas HSS, Mairang) – 10th rank
Gracious Gloria Diengdoh (St. John Bosco Girls’ HSS, Sohra), Lawanbiang Sarika Mallai (St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Umden Nongthliew), and Umalizie D Sangma (Loyola Secondary School, Dawagre) – 12th rank
Ereen L Mawlong (St. Thomas HSS, Mairang) and Ineshabakor Nongrum (Nehru Memorial Secondary School, Umsning) – 14th rank
Born Winner Marngar (Anderson HSS, Nongstoin) – 17th rank
Rikyrpang Marbaniang (Nongspung Presbyterian Secondary School, Nongspung) – 18th rank
Jane Olmond Rapsang (Seng Khasi Secondary School, Marbisu) and Rehan Mahammed (Jawaharlal Nehru HSS, Phulbari) – 19th rank
Interestingly, eight students from private institutions also made it to the Top 20, adding further variety to this year’s merit list.
They include Sagarika Ray in the thirteenth position, Shreya Kumari in the fourteenth, Ibadahun Kharshanhun in fifteenth, Gracy Lyngdoh in sixteenth and Fenisha Pathaw in nineteenth. The twentieth rank was jointly held by Aditya Yadav, Zelvi Kurbah and Haphidawadbha Phawa.
