Tura, Dec 10: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has emphasised on the govt’s dedication to advancing A’chik studies. A step towards this, he said, is the ongoing initiative to finalise the Tribal Institute at Babadam.
Speaking at the inaugural Tura Me’gong International Literary Festival 2023, organized by Don Bosco College, Tura in collaboration with A’chik Literature Society (ALS) on Saturday, the CM expressed his gratitude and conveyed his vision for future Litfests to be more inclusive, drawing writers and scholars from across the state and the nation.
It must be noted that Babadam village is situated in the Rongram sub-division of West Garo Hills district.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Education Minister, Rakkam A. Sangma.
Talking at the event, he highlighted the significance of the LitFest. Sangma emphasised its role in nurturing a passion for A.chik literature among academicians and students. He also encouraged scholars to actively engage in substantive discussions, emphasising their crucial role in enriching A.chik literary studies.
Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Jagadish Chelani IAS, and the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Abraham T. Sangma was also present at the event.
The Tura Me.gong International Literary Festival 2023 was organised by Don Bosco College, Tura, in collaboration with the Achik Literature Society (ALS). The event served as a forum for scholars, writers, and literature enthusiasts to partake in substantive discussions on A.chik poetry, prose, and fiction.
