Shillong, Sept 4: Meghalaya and Assam government have decided to constitute a joint committee to look into the issues raised in regards to the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).
Informing this on Wednesday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “Assam CM and myself have decided during a verbal conversation that we will be putting up a small joint committee where officials from both the states will be there and will look into all the aspects of the different concerns that have been raised by Assam and others and in that we will take up the other matters also.”
He said that the chief secretaries of both the states are in touch to formalise the formation of this committee. “…all these concerns will be taken up and we are hopeful that we are able to resolve most of the issues there.”
Asked, the chief minister said the government has received an official communication after his discussion with the Assam chief minister. “We hope may be in a week’s time this committee should be up,” he added.
