Meghalaya beat Manipur to enter final of Inter-State Women’s cricket tournament in Sikkim

Shillong, April 11: Meghalaya booked their spot in the final of the 2nd NECDC Senior Women’s Inter State Tournament after defeating Manipur by 8 runs in a closely fought semi-final rematch on Friday.

Notably, the initial match on Thursday was washed out due to rain.

Batting first, Meghalaya posted 109/7 in 20 overs. Luiza Tamang top-scored with 49 runs, while Daiaka Emigale Warjri contributed 27. Manipur’s bowlers put up a good fight with R.K. Linthoingambi Devi, Monica Devi Ningthoujam and Ranjita Devi Koijam picking up two wickets each.

In reply, Manipur managed 101/7, falling short by just 8 runs. Seterny Devi Brahmacharimayum was the top scorer with 45 runs.

Meghalaya bowler Rubi Chettri took 2 wickets for just 14 runs. She was also named Player of the Match.

Meghalaya will now face hosts Sikkim in the final on Saturday morning.

Both teams are unbeaten so far in the tournament. The match will be live-streamed on the Sikkim Cricket Association’s official YouTube channel and CricHeroes.
