Shillong, March 27: The state government has decided that all civil hospitals in the state should have dedicated power supply.
Informing this after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Power Minister AT Mondal said the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) is taking up Shillong and Tura Civil Hospitals on a pilot basis to ensure uninterrupted power supply to them in case if there is any eventuality happening.
“So accordingly, we have requested the government to give us a plot of land in the sericulture office campus in Tura, which we will utilize to go for 33/11 KV and 25MVA sub stations dedicatedly to Tura civil hospital,” he said.
“And to augment other areas also, we have asked for government land opposite to Danagre BSF camp and another one at MTC land at Dakopgre and government has agreed to give these three plots of land,” Mondal further informed adding “with these three sub stations coming up at Tura, the load factor of Tura will be taken care so that there is no excess load and substation goes out of service.”
Further, the minister informed that the cabinet has approved the proposal for upgradation of NEHU and Mawlai sub stations to meet the increasing demand for power.
“We are having another new substation at Mawkhanu to take the load factor of Shillong city,” he added.
