Shillong, Aug 31: The vigilant troops of 193 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized clothing items like sarees worth Rs. 42 lakhs, which were meant for smuggling into Bangladesh from the international border of Meghalaya.
This seizure was done after the BSF acted on specific information received from intelligence sources regarding a potential smuggling operation. The troops swiftly conducted a search operation and successfully intercepted the smugglers, preventing the illegal transfer of the clothing items across the border.
According to reports, the operation took place in the bordering area of Barmanbari in East Khasi Hills District, where the consignment of sarees was stocked in an abandoned house near the international border.
After receiving the specific information, a BSF team arrived on the spot and successfully confiscated the consignment of sarees. Further, the seized clothing items were handed over to the concerned customs office for further necessary actions.
