Shillong, July 28: The state government has already come up with a notification for the implementation of the new criminal laws with effect from July 1.
Informing this on Friday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “Government of Meghalaya has already come up with notification to implement new criminal laws.”
Stating that the new criminal laws will not affect the judiciary powers of the three autonomous district councils (ADCs), the CM said, “The laws that are there for the district council will not be affected. District council laws and rules will continue to function as they are, their powers will remain as they are, their jurisdiction will remain as they are so there is no question of the kind of effect of the laws and judiciary power of the district council.”
