Meghalaya: CM Conrad Sangma says state govt refrains from interfering in the working of KHADC

Must read

Shillong, June 21: In a recent statement, Conrad Sangma, the National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, expressed his views on the ongoing political developments in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

Sangma highlighted the distinct nature of the District Council’s political dynamics, emphasizing that the state government refrains from interfering in its workings.

Responding to questions regarding the reported dissatisfaction of its alliance partner, the United Democratic Party (UDP), regarding a less-than-smooth transition, Sangma acknowledged the presence of complications and challenges. However, he made it clear that he would not intervene in the matter.

The close proximity between the Congress and the NPP has created a sense of unhappiness among the UDP, a key ally in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government.
