Tura, Jan 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday inaugurated two healthcare centres in West Garo Hills – Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bhaitbari and Public Health Centre (PHC) at Chibinang, in the presence of MLAs S.G. Esmatur Mominin and Abdus Saleh.

Speaking at the inaugural function at Bhaitbari, the Chief Minister stated that the Government is committed to ensure better health services to the people of the region and the inauguration of the new CHC is testimony of the Government’s efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to the people.
The CHC building was completed a few years back, however, the process to upgrade the PHC to CHC was delayed.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness that the long pending demand of the people for the upgradation of the Bhaitbari PHC could finally be realised and assured that the Government will provide all support for manpower, equipment, accommodation for staff and other necessities required for the CHC to function efficiently.
Inaugurating the new PHC at Chibinang, he said the government has been working to upgrade the health care facilities across the State. He said that the government has made investment to provide better healthcare services.

He told the gathering that Covid-19 pandemic had posed a challenge for the government but the government with a synergetic effort is working to create better health care facilities. He also informed that government is committed to ensure overall upgradation of health care services in the State.
Water Treatment Plant at Bolbokgre village
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inspected the Water Treatment Plant at Bolbokgre village under Bhajamara CS Circle of Selsella C&RD Block, West Garo Hills. The project implemented under JJM, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, has enabled several villages by providing safe drinking water under Bhajamara GS Circle benefiting hundreds of households. During the inspection the Chief Minister visited different households to witness household tap connections in the area.

He later had interaction with villagers of the village and assured that the Government is committed to fast track development in the region.
