Shillong, July 25: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr LR Bishnoi has sought the cooperation of his counterpart in Assam in nabbing the kingpins involved in the operation of illegal coal mining and illegal coke plants in Meghalaya.

“Immediately, after the High Court order, during investigation, their (kingpins) names figured and their addresses were ascertained and they were found to be from outside Meghalaya,” Dr Bishnoi told reporters.

“I have written a letter to the DGP of Assam mentioning the details of these persons and their addresses etc and I had sought his cooperation in nabbing them,” he added.

The DGP informed that one team of Meghalaya police is stationed in Guwahati for the last 15-20 days and with the help of Assam police, they are raiding their houses.

“But unfortunately, none of them are found at their residential places as most probably they have changed their numbers and they also have left Assam for some other places. So it will take time but we are after them,” he said.
