Shillong, Sept 02: Official representatives (diplomats) from five different countries – Mongolia, Gambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Tajikistan – met with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tyngsong on Friday at his official chamber in Shillong to explore and learn about the state of Meghalaya.
The High Commissioner of Gambia to India, Mustapha Jawara, while speaking to reporters praised the beautiful landscape of Meghalaya. He expressed gratitude for the hospitality he and his fellow diplomats received during their meeting with the Deputy CM.
Jawara noted that his country, Gambia, shares similarities with Meghalaya in terms of tourism. He added that he was pleased to see Meghalaya’s greenery and its weather, which make it suitable as a tourist destination.
The diplomats also visited some historical sites in and around the city of Shillong.
