Meghalaya exercises extra caution for Independence Day celebrations after Jihadi module busted in Assam

Shillong, Aug 10: Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday said since the reports of Assam becoming the hotbed for Jihadi activities surfaced, the state government is being extra cautious for the Independence Day celebration.

In light of reports that Assam is one of the states where there are some anti-social elements, Rymbui said the Meghalaya police department is taking extra steps so that anti-social elements or Jihadi group have no place in the state. He also stressed that the intelligence wing is working overtime.

He further urged the citizens to be vigilant and report if they notice any suspicious activity around.

“Regarding Jihadi groups, it is not only a matter in our state but sharing of inputs with Central Agency and other states is done because it is a national threat,” mentioned Rymbui.

He stated that the coordination with different states is done so that no element which puts the unity and integrity at risk has any place.
