Tura, Jan 10: The screening process for football teams participating in the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 commenced on Wednesday at the GBHSS Artificial Football Ground in Chandmari, Tura.
The process started at 8:30 a.m. and aims to ensure that all players meet the eligibility criteria set by the Meghalaya Football Association.
One of the primary requirements is that players, both boys and girls, must have been born on or after January 31, 2006. Participants are required to present proof of their date of birth, such as an Aadhar card, and provide their birth certificate for verification.
Additionally, players must be residents of the district they represent. If a player represents a district other than their permanent residence, they must furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their home district’s sports or football association.
As of now, the screening process has been completed for the U-18 boys’ football teams from several districts, including Ri Bhoi, East Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, East Jantia Hills, West Jantia Hills, South Garo Hills, and West Garo Hills. However, several teams are yet to undergo the screening process.
The screening for the U-18 girls’ football teams is scheduled for tomorrow, as teams are still in transit and expected to arrive shortly.
