Shillong, Aug 25: Meghalaya Government on Friday approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Judicial Service Rules, 2006 and the Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service Rules, 2015.

The amendment proposes to omit the provision providing recruitment of Judicial Officers by the Commission and after the amendment, the recruitment will be done by the High Court of Meghalaya.
Further, wherever the word ‘Guwahati High Court’ appears will be substituted by the ‘Meghalaya High Court’. The amendment also proposes to change the nomenclatures of designation of Judicial Officers as per directions of the Supreme Court.
