Meghalaya Govt release second installment arrear pay to deficit teachers

Shillong, Feb 20: The state government has released the 25 per cent of the second instalment arrear pay for deficit schools and will release an amount of Rs 3074.74 lakh.

This was as per a notification issued here by the Director Institutional Finance & Ex-Officio Secretary to the government of Meghalaya Finance (Economic Affairs) Department on February 19, 2021 to the Joint Secretary to the state Education Department.

The Finance Department has agreed to release of the amount of Rs 3074.74 lakh which is the 2nd installment 25% arrear pay due to the Deficit schools’ teaching and non-teaching staffs as per recommendation of the 5th Meghalaya Pay Commission.

It may be mentioned that the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) has time and again pursued with the government to release the second instalment arrear.

However, there are other demands that lie pending with the government such to raise the Death cum Retirement Gratuity Rs 10 lakh to be at par with the government employees, the Retirement benefit schemes, Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPS), the regular and monthly pay besides others.
