The toll-free number will enable the residents to get in touch with the government officials and seek assistance without having to pay any charges for the call.
Violence erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023 evening after the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ called by All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) in Torbung area of Churachandpur district to protest the demand of Meiteis, who dominate the Imphal Valley, for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, on Thursday also appealed for peace in Manipur. He also mentioned that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its citizens, regardless of their location.
