Shillong, Aug 28: Meghalaya government has entered into an agreement with the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) which would liaison with the centre, international agencies for several developmental activities of the state.
In this regard a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the department of Information Technology and Communication, Meghalaya and NISG on Wednesday.
NISG is a not-for-profit agency established by the central government in 2002 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Under the MoU, NISG shall facilitate industrial establishments for employment and services.
It would also assist the state during deliberation and collaboration with various ministries, international financial and development agencies, academic and research institutions, help identify solutions and develop action plans and support Project Management Units.
After signing of the MoU, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said Meghalaya government would like to utilise the services of the NSIG as a primary nodal agency.
He said the services would be sought mainly to develop a state-of-art centre of excellence in emerging technologies to promote technological capabilities, enable employment in the IT sector for the youth of Meghalaya.
NISG Chief Executive Officer, Rajiv Bansal, said the partnership would assist Meghalaya to translate government goals and policies into tangible action plans with focus on smart government.
NISG would undertake e-governance capacity building initiatives with special emphasis in the Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies for the state employees.
Principal Secretary, Sampath Kumar, said NISG has been a continuous support in delivering public policy and technological interventions for the state.
