Shillong, Jan 27: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday informed that the government will soon float a tender for the expansion of the Umroi Airport.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said, “Very shortly, we will be floating tender for the expansion of the airport.”
The deputy CM said the proposed expansion will not affect the present runway and that it will not disturbed the landing of flights.
Asked, Dhar said that the chief minister Conrad K Sangma had already called a meeting at his level along with defense and airport authorities.
“Everything is clear. We are just planning to move with the work only. Hopefully within two or two and a half years big flights will land in Umroi Airport and it will be a big game changer for Meghalaya,” he added.
