Meghalaya Guv conveys Diwali greetings, appeals for pollution free celebration

Shillong, Oct 23: On the auspicious occasion of Diwali (Deepawali), the Governor of Meghalaya Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Meghalaya and expressed hope that the festivity will usher in peace, prosperity and joy in the State.

Stating that Diwali, the festival of lights, inspires us to move from darkness to light and symbolizes triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance, the Governor has called for the promotion of amity and brotherhood in the society.

While extending his greetings to the people of the State, the Governor has also stressed on the importance of a pollution free Deepavali celebration and urged people to shun the use of loud crackers to minimize noise pollution and the emission of poisonous gases.

“Following the guidance from our apex leadership for ‘Swachh Bharat’, we must, this Diwali, ensure ‘Shant Bharat’ as well,” the Governor appealed in his message.
