Shillong, Sept 23: The Meghalaya High Court on Monday directed the state government to file a detailed affidavit in regards to the construction of Mawphlang-Balat road within 10 days.

In its order passed while hearing a PIL on the matter, the Court said an affidavit to bring on record the status report with regard to the construction of Mawphlang -Balat road pursuant to the order dated 11.09.2024 has been filed on behalf of the respondent No. 3.

“Certain letters and approvals have been annexed to the affidavit which is stated to be part of the status report , but however , there is no detailed explanation as to the relevance or the situation thereof ,” it said while adding “Though attention of this Court has been drawn to two letters dated 24.06.2024 and 19.06.2024, it is noted that the same is only a request and not a sanction or approval and that too is with regard to only 13 km of the stretch in total.”

“The State respondents to file a detailed affidavit in this regard within 10 days. Accordingly, list this matter on 04.1 0.2024,” the court said.
