Shillong, April 21: The Meghalaya government has launched the CM-INSPIRE scheme to support and strengthen the representation of the state’s youth in India’s civil services.
Announcing the initiative, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the scheme aims to reverse the declining presence of indigenous candidates in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations.
Addressing aspirants, Sangma described the launch as a significant step toward supporting their ambitions. He noted that for years, representation from the state in civil services has been on the decline, and the new scheme seeks to address this gap.
Under CM-INSPIRE, candidates who clear the UPSC Preliminary Examination will receive financial assistance of ₹50,000, while those who qualify the Mains will be awarded ₹1 lakh. The initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on aspirants and ensure that capable candidates are not held back by economic constraints.
The Chief Minister also assured that the government remains committed to supporting aspirants throughout their journey and encouraged them to stay focused on their goals.
Eligible candidates will be able to apply through the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) portal once applications open.
The scheme is expected to provide a major boost to civil service aspirants in the state, while reinforcing the government’s focus on nurturing future leaders.
