Meghalaya Police Continue Crackdown on Drugs with Major Haul: Contraband Worth 3.6 Crores seized, 3 held

SHILLONG, MAY 8: Three persons were arrested with heroin and Ganja worth over Rs 15 crore from Lumshnong village in East Jaintia Hills on Wednesday morning.

This was the fifth major drug haul in the district within a span of 10 days.

40 soap boxes of heroin worth 3.6 Crores and 9.031 kgs of Ganja were seized from three persons travelling in two different nightsuper buses proceeding from Silchar Assam towards Guwahati, police said.

Three arrested persons have been detained and an NDPS case is being registered.

They have been identified as Amzad Hussain Laskar (18) of Rajnagar village, Cachar, Assam, Monib Hussain basker (18) of Bangram, Cachar, Assam and Chamir Hussain Barbhuiya of Isalamabad, Silchar, Cachar, Assam, they said.

It is to be noted that this is the 5th major haul in the span of 10 days.

The total siezure of contrabands by East Jaintia Hills District Police in the last 10 days values upto 15 crores.
