Shillong, Jan 7: In a significant step towards refining the Reservation Policy, the Expert Committee appointed by the government of Meghalaya has successfully wrapped up its state-wide consultations. Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang confirmed that the committee, which had travelled across the state, including Shillong, Jowai, and several regions in the Garo Hills, has gathered extensive feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders.
The consultations aimed to incorporate the voices of the public, political parties, student leaders, NGOs, and other concerned groups. This inclusive approach ensured that the perspectives of various communities and sectors were heard, giving the committee a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding the Reservation Policy.
“The committee engaged with an array of stakeholders from different backgrounds to ensure that every viewpoint was considered,” Chief Secretary Wahlang stated, emphasizing the extensive outreach efforts. “This is a crucial process that reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and fairness in policy-making.”
Following the statewide consultations, the committee convened in Delhi to analyze and deliberate on the feedback gathered. This meeting marked the next phase of the process as the committee prepared to compile its findings into a comprehensive report. The report is expected to serve as a crucial document guiding the future direction of the state’s reservation policy.
While Wahlang refrained from providing a specific timeline for the completion of the report, he assured that the committee was focused on producing a well-rounded and thoughtful analysis.
