Shillong, July 4: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed its 28-member shortlist for the BCCI 2024-25 domestic season.
The state team will be involved in two prestigious tournaments – the multi-day Col CK Nayudu Trophy from October 13 and the one day U-23 Men’s State A Tournament from December 15.
The MCA, following the recommendation of the ad hoc selection committee, has shortlisted 28 players for the season ahead based on their 2023-24 domestic record and their performances in selection matches that were held recently.
Meghalaya were runners-up in the 2023-24 Col CK Nayudu Trophy plate group, finishing second only to Nagaland. Manish Sharma and Abhishek Kumar were electrifying with the ball, claiming 45 and 40 wickets respectively, and they have both been included in the list for this season as well. Some players have also been promoted from the U-19 team, such as Shavian Blah, who took 26 wickets in the Cooch Behar Trophy last season.
The MCA will conduct selection-cum-preparatory camps before the U-23 tournaments one month prior to the start date and, in the meantime, the players have been advised to stay fit in practice and training and to update the MCA on their progress.
