Tura, Oct 28: Meghalaya Speaker and North Tura MLA Thomas A Sangma on Monday reiterated State government’s priority to the education sector.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony by the Hindi Govt L.P. School, Tura, he said the state government has kept education as its priority since forming the government in 2018.
He also emphasised the importance of education for the overall upliftment of society and donated Rs. 2 lakh to the school.
Earlier, the school gave an overview of the progress done by the school administration in terms of student enrolment and use of amenities provided by the government.
The school authorities also shared the issues of the school with the Speaker.
The event also saw school children present songs to the attendees.
Others present on the occasion were school committee president Prem Prakash Tiwari, headmaster cum school committee secretary Rakesh Mishra, retired headmaster Rakesh Pandey, and parents.
