Shillong, Dec 12: The Meghalaya government is set to bolster its education sector with the creation of over 1,000 new jobs and the introduction of additional academic streams in several government colleges.
Education Minister Rakkam Sangma announced that science streams will be established at Mawphlang and Mahendraganj Government Colleges, while Sohra, Williamnagar, and Baghmara Government Colleges will offer comprehensive science and commerce streams. This initiative will result in the creation of 258 new posts.
“Within the next two to three weeks, we will publish advertisements for the recruitment of over 1,000 vacancies in the education sector,” said Sangma. The recruitment drive will span higher and technical education, government colleges, higher secondary schools, and primary schools.
Additionally, the state government plans to operationalize academic activities at the newly formed state university. From the next academic session, postgraduate courses will be introduced in select departments, with recruitment for university positions set to commence immediately.
