Shillong, Oct 2: The State Government is set to introduce specialized packages aimed at improving board exam results in districts that have consistently underperformed. These initiatives will be launched under the “CM Impact Programme,” according to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma.
“We have identified districts where student performance, particularly in board examinations, has not been up to standard. Special programmes have been designed to address this,” said Sangma. He further emphasized that different strategies have been adopted to enhance pass rates, including giving students the opportunity to appear for board exams twice a year.
Highlighting the role of educators and school environments, Sangma added, “Teachers need to connect better with students, and schools should foster a conducive environment for learning.”
For the 2024 Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) exams, the pass percentage for Class 10 was 55.80%, the second-best result in the last five years. Meanwhile, the Class 12 pass percentage saw a slight decline, dropping to 79.76% from 80.30% the previous year.
