National People’s Party (NPP) leader and cabinet minister Rakkam A Sangma has said the April 19 Lok Sabha elections was an “unexpected tough fight” even as he expressed confidence that the party will win both Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats by a very thin margin.
In his reply during the Budget Session of the Assembly on February 21, 2024 , Rakkam had informed that the government is planning to make the state university functional by this year. However due to the Lok Sabha elections, the university will have to be made functional by 2025.
