Shillong, Aug 27: The Under-15 football team from Meghalaya has booked their place in the final of the 63rd Subroto International Cup 2024 after beating Bangladesh in a thrilling 2-1 match at the ACS Centre in Bangalore on Monday.
Nongjri Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, representing Meghalaya, outclassed the boys from Bangladesh with a penalty in the 36th minute, where Marc R Marak stepped up to give Meghalaya an early lead.
However, just before the end of the first half, the Bangladesh team equalized, making the scoreline 1-1 at halftime.
After the halftime break, the U-15 boys from Meghalaya continued to apply pressure and in the 59th minute, Prosperwell Ryntong scored the winning goal.
The score remained 2-1 until the end of the 90 minutes of regulation time.
With this victory, the Meghalaya team is set to play in the final against the Uttar Pradesh team on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.
