Shillong, Dec 2: In a proud moment for Meghalaya, Nambie Jessica Marak, who goes by the moniker of TribalChef, has made it to the finale of MasterChef India 2023.
In its 8th edition, MasterChef India is an Indian competitive cooking reality television series.
Nambie is well known for her YouTube channel, ‘Eat Your Kappa’, in which she documents various foods and cultures of northeast India.
Talking to social media to congratulate Nambie, Chief Minister Conrad k Sangma wrote: “So proud to learn that #TribalChef, Nambie Jessica Marak from Meghalaya has reached the Finals of #MasterChefIndia. Every culinary masterpiece that she presents is attached to very special stories of Meghalaya and the North East, giving people more insight into our rich tribal culture. Excited to see where her journey takes her. Wishing her the best with the remaining part of the competition.”
She hails from Upper Rangsa village of Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills district. Besides her YouTube channel, she is also an entrepreneur who founded A’Kawe Food Processing Unit.
Since the announcement of her place in the finale of the season, wishes have been pouring for her.
Through MasterChef India 2023, Nambie has been able to tell the world about the culinary treasure trove in North East India. Her dishes have elements and experiences from the region, leaving the judges in surprise by the unique ingredients, herbs and methods used, thus far, to create refreshingly delicious, aromatic and rich cuisines.
Alongside her, Suraj Thapa, Dr. Rukhsaar Sayeed, Nidhi Sharma, Mohammed Aashiq, and Harish Closepet have made it to the show’s finale. The show is judged by chefs Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar and Pooja Dhingra.
