Shillong, Jan 31: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Monday condemned the IED blast incident at Khyndailad, Shillong.

“It is very unfortunate and very sad to see that this kind of thing is happening right at the centre of the city,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

Stating that the incident is highly condemnable, he said, “Such kind of violence will not be tolerated at all as innocent lives will have to bear the brunt…Therefore, it is not acceptable at all.”

Lyngdoh, who is also the president of the United Democratic Party (UDP), said that he would also take up the matter with the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui that such incident is not allowed to reoccur in the future.
