Shillong, Sep 4: East Jaintia Hills police on Sunday nabbed one shrewd interstate drug trafficker and seized crystal meth (10.16 kg), a potent and deadly drug worth Rs 15 crore.
This seizure and arrest was done based on credible source information. The arrested person has been identified as Lalmungsanga and he was detained at Kongong while he was travelling from Aizwal via Silchar towards Khliehriat in a tourist Sumo ( AS 01 KC 9188), police said.
Following which a Preliminary test was conducted which showed positive for Crystal Meth (mescaline) .
Meanwhile, a case under NDPS Act has been registered with the Khliehriat Police Station under relevant sections of law and investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages.
Taking to X, the Meghalaya CM, Conrad Sangma, congratulated the Director General of Police. He wrote, “Well done, Dr. L.R.ishnoi and his team. Today’s seizure is a testimony to our unwavering commitment to eradicate the drug menace. Let’s all rally together and pledge to create #DrugFreeMeghalaya.”

This big seizure comes a day after East Khasi Hills Police nabbed four interstate drug traffickers and seized heroin worth Rs 6 crore and one Maruti car.
