Aizawl, Nov 4: In a major crackdown against smuggling, Assam Rifles apprehended an alleged drug smuggler hailing from Myanmar and recovered 295.28 grams of heroin.
The alleged smuggler was apprehended from general area of Tlangsam, Champhai along Mizoram-Myanmar border on November 3.
The seized drug is worth Rs 2.06 crore in the international market.
The entire consignment of Heroin worth Rs. 2,06,69,600 along with the accused has been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai for further legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai (Mizoram) based on specific information.
Assam Rifles has launched a massive crackdown against drug smuggling and, so far, many drug peddlers with major consignment have been arrested.
