Guwahati, Oct 15: Drivers from Mizoram have decided not to ply on National Highway 306 as this crucial highway has remained unrepaired, rendering it unsafe for vehicles to operate.
The Mizoram Truck Drivers Association, Mizoram Tipper Association Driver and Owner, and the Mizoram Indane Driver Welfare have therefore called an indefinite strike and would not operate on the highway.
These organisations have said despite the Chief Minister’s instructions to the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to repair the road, it has remained the same and has become hazardous for vehicles to ply on it.
These associations have pointed out that the Sairang-Durlui section remains particularly hazardous and unsafe for the drivers. The drivers say they would not ply on it unless it’s repaired.
This decision of the drivers would have a severe effect on the people as it would disrupt the crucial movement of goods and essential commodities for the people of the state.
Earlier, oil tanker drivers also called a strike due to the poor road conditions, which resulted in a fuel shortage across the state.
