Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I did a review meeting with the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and all concerned departments for Shillong-Dawki road and for Shillong Western Bypass and right now everything is on track.”
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that allegations made in an affidavit filed before the Meghalaya High Court that the alignment for the bypass could not be finalised due to objections raised by local people is wrong.
The project, which commenced with the laying of its foundation stone by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on May 1, 2015, has only achieved a physical progress of 30.96 percent over the last eight and a half years.
The Deputy Chief Minister incharge PWD (Roads), Prestone Tynsong informed on Monday that work orders for package - 1, 2, and 4 of the Shillong-Dawki road have been issued and work is set to resume shortly.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that they have seen the bad condition, hence, they have made immediate arrangements to ensure that the repair of the phase four or the fourth sector, which is more closer towards Dawki, should start immediately.
Houses in close proximity to the construction site, particularly in Steplanglur Village at Rambrai, have witnessed cracks in their walls and damages to roofs, a result of debris propelled into residential areas from the explosive blasts.
