Kohima, June 12: The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department seized heroin valued at Rs 31 crore smuggled from Myanmar and arrested five drug peddlers, officials said.
This major development comes after officials raided two locations in Aizawl and seized 6.05 kg of the drug in the last two days.
On Sunday, officials of the narcotics department seized 5.8 kg of heroin from a truck from Aizawl’s Zemabawk locality.
Earlier on Saturday, around 248 gm of heroin was seized from Aizawl’s Bawngkawn area of Aizawl and an alleged peddler, identified as N Ngolang (55), a resident of the Tahan area of Myanmar was arrested.
Meanwhile, four people were arrested for possessing the contraband. They are all from Assam’s Cachar district,
The accused have been identified as Abdul Kalam Laskar (23), Md Nazimul Hussain Barbhuiya (34), Sukur Ali Mazumder (22) and Kutbul Alom Laskar (28).
