Mizoram Truck Owners and Drivers announce indefinite strike from January 23, on grounds of poor road condition

Aizawl, Jan 21: In a protest against pathetic condition of National Highway 306, the Mizoram Truck Owners’ Association (MTOA) and the Mizoram Truck Drivers’ Association (MTDA) have decided not to ply their vehicle on NH 306 from January 23, 2025.

The two associations on Monday stated that due to the dilapidated condition of the NH-306, the truckers have decided that they would indefinitely not ply on the highway, rendering unsafe for the truck drivers, and added that their vehicles must undergo several repairing.

In past also such strikes were called, last August and October, the tankers association had called for an indefinite strike due to poor condition of the highway. The August strike by the truck owners’ association cut off Mizoram from the rest of the country for several days.

The association has appealed to the public for the upcoming disruption of supplies.
