Shillong, Oct 7: Former Ranikor legislator Martin M Danggo on Monday resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a letter to the BJP state president Rikman G Momin, Danggo said, “…I do hereby Tender my resignation from the primary membership of the state Bharatiya Janata Party on personal ground.”
Danggo had joined the BJP ahead of 2023 Assembly after he was declared official candidate of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP). He was defeated by sitting Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein.
The former five-time legislator had also resigned as Congress MLA in 2018 and joined the NPP, after the MDA 1 government had upgraded Ranikor block to a full fledged Civil Subdivision. He was defeated by Marwein during the bye election held that same year.
