Jowai, Aug 19: Mobile tablets were distributed to ASHAs and ASHA facilitators under Amlarem Civil Subdivision, Amlarem to enhance healthcare services and improve digital access to health care workers in an Aspiration Block programme held on Monday at the office of Amlarem C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills District.
Speaking on the occasion, local MLA and Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui, stressed the critical need for regular health checkups. He pointed out that a large portion of the population in the area tends to neglect routine medical screenings which significantly contributes to the rising incidences of various non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and others.
He explained that the lack of early detection and prevention care leads to serious health complications that could have been managed or prevented. He urged the community to be more proactive in seeking healthcare.
He also emphasized that the government’s ongoing efforts to provide resources like these tablets are part of a large strategy to improve healthcare and ensure that essential services reach even the most remote areas.
Block Medical Officer of Amlarem, Dr Arvind Khonglah, emphasised that the Mobile tablets distributed to ASHAs will significantly contribute to Amlarem Block achieving its Aspirational Block KPIs, enabling the ASHAs to complete CBAC entry for their village/area.
Also present at the event were Amlarem Subdivision Officer, Dr. Abishek Saini, Amlarem Block Development Officer, G.L.C Mylliem, Additional District Medical Officer, Dr. K Dhar, District Nodal Officer Non-Communicable Disease Control Programme (NCDCP), Dr Maria Syngkon, and other health workers.
