Guwahati, June 9: Narendra Modi is set to take oath as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term today. The Modi 3.0 Cabinet is expected to induct many MPs as ministers from NE states.
As per sources, Sarbananda Sonowal, who won the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat and is one of the senior leaders of the BJP, is expected to get a cabinet berth in the new government. Earlier, Sonowal served as the Union minister of Ports, shipping and Waterways and cabinet minister of AYUSH.
Sonowal is one of the popular leaders of the BJP, and his name has been pronounced. He has the experience and good knowledge to run the ministry, which is expected to be allotted to him.
Parimal Suklabaidya, who bagged the Silchar Lok Sabha seat and is also the state minister in Assam, is expected to get MoS. He is an old-time RSS member and has a close rapport with PM Modi. Suklabaidya won the Silchar seat by a margin of 5,12,973 votes. Suklabaidya has emerged as a powerful leader of Barak Valley. He has maintained a good relationship with North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Dilip Saikia, a two-time MP from Mangaldoi and an old party worker who is also the National general secretary of BJP, is expected to be included in the Modi 3.0 cabinet and will be given charge as MoS. This time, due to delimitation, Dilip Saikia contested from the Darrang-Udalguri seat and won the seat by a margin of 3,29012 votes. He is a veteran Assam BJP leader who has a good relationship with all party members.
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Rajya Sabha member, but this time he was given the ticket from the newly formed Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat after delimitation; he won the seat by a margin of 2,48947. Tasa comes from the tea garden community of Assam, has a good grip on the tea community, and has been expected to get the MoS.
Kiren Rijiju, a popular BJP leader from Arunachal Pradesh who already remained cabinet minister in different portfolios, is expected to be inducted into the Modi 3.0 cabinet. This time, Rijiju won the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat by defeating his nearest rival, Nabam Tuki of the Congress, by a margin of 1,00,738 votes.
Tapir Gao, who won the Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency, defeating his nearest rival, Bosiram Siram of the Congress by a margin of 30,421 votes, is expected to get MoS.
Kirti Devi Debbarma, from Tripura’s royal family, won the East Tripura ST reserved seat by a margin of 4,86,819 votes. Kriti Singh Debbarma is a ‘Maharajkumari’ or princess of the erstwhile Manikya royal family. She is the youngest daughter of the late Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya and the sister of TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion-turned-politician Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. She is expected to get the MoS in the Modi cabinet.
Former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who won the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 6,11,578 votes, might be made a minister with independent charge.
