ED writes to Union Home Ministry
Guwahati: The ED has written to the Union Home Ministry alleging AAP has received more than Rs 7 crore foreign funds in contravention of the FCRA. During its probe against Sukhpal Khaira, the ED found AAP got Rs 7.08 crore till now and it “manipulated” the identities and nationalities of foreign donors.
Returned to RSS if needed
Guwahati: Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash, who retired as a Calcutta high court judge on Monday, revealed that he was and is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said that he was “ready to go back to the organisation” if they called for any assistance of work.
60.5% voter turnout
Guwahati: More than 53 million people voted on Monday in the fifth and smallest phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls as 49 seats across six states and two Union territories recorded a turnout of 60.5 %, compared to 62.4% from five years ago. This indicated an uptick in voting in comparison to the first four phases.
SIT to probe assault case
Guwahati: The Delhi police formed a five-member special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged assault and molestation case registered by Aam Aadami Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary Bibhav Kumar.
PM criticises TMC
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday continued to accuse Trinamool Congress and its supremo Mamata Banerjee of hurting the religious sentiment of the Hindus of West Bengal, even as she clarified that she had only criticised some individual monks of Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha for campaigning against her party had always been respectful to both the institutions.
