Shillong, Jan 8: In an unfortunate incident on Monday, a truck carrying galvanized steel rods capsized and crushed a mother of 6 children to death at Umsning Bypass road near Umtrew in Ri Bhoi District.
As per the information received, the deceased, identified as Cleris Nongsiej (37 years old), was a resident of Umtrew.
It was also informed that Nongsiej was on her way home after attending a funeral of her relative. The 37-year-old deceased was an employee of the Health Department.
The driver of the vehicle with registration number JH 05 CX 4295 managed to run away from the scene and is yet to be traced. The body of the deceased has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for further necessary action.
