Shillong, July 1: The Meghalaya Prayer Church Transformation Initiative (MPCTI) on Saturday appealed to the Centre and State to end violence and restore peace in Manipur.
“We exhort all those in authority both in the State and in the Centre to put a stop to all this violence with initiatives of truth, justice, trust, reconciliation and peace,” MPCTI secretary Rev H Chyne said in a statement issued here.
“We press upon all those who are actively engaged in the ongoing violence to stop these acts of atrocities. We call for a cessation of conflicts and communal tensions by different groups which have the propensity of escalating further divisions and destruction,” he added.
Expressing condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones due to the violence incidents, Rev Chyne said, “We appeal to the elders and the mothers in our communities, civil societies, faith organisations, the academic community and the youth of our region to come together across communities with the endeavour to move forward to a future with trust and hope.”
“We appeal to all those who have been affected and are still experiencing the trauma of violence to find a way, however difficult, in overcoming this crisis – for the sake and future of our children, grandchildren and the future generations. We pray for the blessings of forgiveness and the grace to forgive one another,” he said.
