Tura, Nov 1: Chipakkore FC clinched a 2-0 victory over Lumsohkhlur S&SC in the 4th Meghalaya State League Group A match held at the Chandmari Football Turf on Friday.
In the first half of the match, both teams held in a goalless start to the match as each side pushed but failed to convert.
The breakthrough came in the 71st minute, when Balthu M Marak delivered a powerful strike from outside the D-box, putting Chipakkore FC in the lead.
However, the victory was sealed for the Chipakkore FC in the 89th minute as Bijay R Marak found the net with a well-placed finish.
Yellow cards were shown to Johnkupar Kharbani and Ricky Paul Kharmawlong of Lumsohkhlur in the 41st and 66th minutes, respectively. Chipakkore players Depangkor Hajong and Akim R Sangma also received yellow cards in the 55th and 71st minutes.
Looking ahead, Atong Matgrik and Pinggera Do•Gisik will face off in the next Group A match, scheduled for November 2 at 2 pm at the Chandmari Football Turf.
