MSME holds town hall meeting clarifying MSME related issues in Tura

Tura, February 16: In a joint effort to champion the cause of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), RBI Shillong conducted a Town Hall event at Tura, West Garo Hills on 16th February, 2024 at Hotel Polo Orchid, Tura.

Inaugurating the event, Olden Nongpluh, General Manager, RBI Shillong in his keynote address highlighted the significance of Town Hall Meeting on MSME. He emphasized that the Town Hall event presents an opportunity to bring together a diverse array of entrepreneurs, bankers, government officials and regulators. He further highlighted that the event serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge-sharing to address the challenges faced by MSMEs and pave the way for sustainable economic growth.

Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani who was present as the chief guest, welcomed the initiative taken by RBI Shillong for conducting such an event which presents a unique opportunity to have all the stakeholders in MSME framework under one roof.

Furthermore, senior officials from banks and other financial institutions addressed the participants on various initiatives in the field of MSME and encouraged the existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs of the state. S P Gangte, AGM, SIDBI and Lalit V S Jamwal, Manager, RBI made presentations apprising the participants about the RBI and Government initiatives as well as available MSME products in the banks for the benefit of the participants.

The Town Hall Event witnessed a remarkable turnout with around 100 MSME entrepreneurs from various sectors converging to engage in meaningful discussions.

Local entrepreneurs also shared their success stories to motivate budding entrepreneurs present at the meeting.

Loan sanction letters amounting to crores of rupees were also handed over to few entrepreneurs. An open panel discussion whereby participants raised their doubts in connection with credit provided by banks, rate of interest charged in case of sponsored schemes available in the banks and other Government agencies were clarified by the concerned officials at the program.
