Tura, April 2: A man said to be mentally unstable who killed his own daughter with a knife in Ampangdangre village of Silkigre in Chokpot region of south Garo Hills has been caught by South Garo Hills police.
The accused father, Lindrid N Sangma, had cut the throat of his own three year old daughter inside the house and ran away on March 17. The minor daughter died from excessive bleeding.
Even after 17 days of search police could not find him.
On Friday, around 3 PM, police teams with help of villagers from Ampangdangre and other nearby villages apprehended the absconding murder accused.
He was caught from inside the jungle at Angke Chiring (crab stream) near Betagre village in Silkigre aree after a search of 17 days.
“We thank the people and various nokmas under Silkigre areas for their unconditional support and help rendered during the search for the last 17 days,” stated south Garo Hills police in an appreciation gesture to the public.
