Aizawl, Aug 10: In a significant political development, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) party, which is an ally of the BJP-led NDA, has decided to support the opposition sponsored no-confidence motion, being discussed in the Lok Sabha.
On Thursday, C. Lalrosanga, the lone Lok Sabha member from Mizoram, said that he would support the no-confidence motion against the NDA government.
“We are extremely unhappy with the way the BJP governments dealt with the Manipur issue. Our brothers and sisters in Manipur are badly affected and distressed by the violence in Manipur,” C. Lalrosanga said.
He said that the MNF is also against the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Lalrosanga said that the issue of the no-confidence motion was discussed with the party leadership, including the state Chief Minister and MNF President Zoramthanga.
Meanwhile, many MNF leaders and the party’s two parliamentarians from Mizoram have recently expressed their desire to withdraw the party’s support from the NDA on issues such as the Manipur unrest and UCC.
