Shillong, Sept 11: The college teachers under the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) on Monday decided to continue the non-cooperation movement following their meeting with the Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Prof. PS Shukla, regarding the implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
After nearly 40 days of agitation, the MCTA was called by the VC of NEHU to find a solution for implementing the NEP. However, the meeting did not lead to an understanding, so the Teachers’ Association have decided to continue the agitation.
Dr. Airpeace W. Rani, the General Secretary of MCTA, stated that the VC acknowledged flaws in the notification issued on July 12 for implementing the new NEP 2020 in all affiliated colleges of NEHU. The General Secretary mentioned that the VC, however, refused to withdraw the notification, citing the absence of complaints from any of the college principals.
Despite the VC’s firm refusal, even after acknowledging flaws in the notification, the MCTA has chosen to continue with its agitation until the VC takes steps regarding the notification.
