Must read

Shillong, June 6: The security audit to look into the reasons for collapse of the dome of the new Assembly Building at Mawdiangdiang and the structural integrity of the entire building is set to take longer as the team conducting the inquiry needs more specialists to assess and ascertain the causes for the collapse.

IIT Guwahati is carrying out the investigation into the collapse of the dome and also auditing the safety of the left and right wing of the new assembly building.

Meghalaya PWD (building) minister Dasakhiat Lamare on Monday informed that an inspection was carried out but the team needs few more professionals to begin the audit, and has sought time to gather the team of required specialists.

“They need atleast 15-18 professional in regards to begin the inspection. I want a genuine reason and report on why the dome collapsed, so they should be given time to do the inspection,” he said.

On queries of objections from Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on installation of the dome, the Minister said he is not in the favour of eliminating the idea of putting a dome in the building.
